The objective of our Parent Ambassador Program at Mt. Boucherie is to build positive links and effective communication between parents, students, staff and our community. The program was initiated in September 2003, and in the years since, we have received a tremendous amount of positive feedback about its benefits.
Parent Ambassadors are parent volunteers who are responsible for contacting ten or twelve other parents in their child's grade approximately five or six times throughout the school year. This contact is made by e-mail or over the phone. There are about 40 Parent Ambassadors for each grade - 120 in total – who participate in five, one-hour training sessions during the year, led by the school Vice-Principal and the Parent Ambassador Coordinators. Parent Ambassadors are easily identified in the community because they wear their fleece sweaters with the MBSS logo!
In September, Parent Ambassador Coordinators - one for each grade – obtain homeroom class lists and use these lists to create each Parent Ambassador's individual contact list. Most parents, by indicating on their child's school registration form, have agreed to the release of their contact information to our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and the Parent Ambassador Program. Although the Parent Ambassador Program operates separately from our PAC, it is technically part of our PAC with respect to the "Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy."
We are always looking to have more parents become part of the Parent Ambassador Program. If you want a great way to be involved at Mt. Boucherie, without embarrassing your student, and at the same time be "in the know" about what is happening in your student's education, our Parent Ambassador Program is for you.
Please contact the school for more information.
Primary Objectives of the Parent Ambassador:
* To convey information to parents regarding activities, school policies and procedures and current topics of interest.
* To provide a personal link to all Grade 10, 11 and 12 parents.
* To build a school-home connection between parents, teachers and students through homerooms.
